CALL FOR ABSTRACTS NOW OPEN

The 10th International Transit Data Symposium is being hosted by the University of Toronto Transit Analytics Lab (TAL) / Transportation Research Institute (UTTRI) June 23-25, 2026 in Toronto, Canada, and will feature potential applications and methodological developments using automated transit data. The Symposium will be structured using a hybrid format, both in-person and virtual, in order to broaden the discussion between practitioners and researchers interested in the use of automated data in transit planning, operations, and management. The Call for Abstracts is now open and abstracts should be submitted through the EasyChair platform.

The deadline for submission is Friday November 21st.

TOPICS for submission include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • The use of advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence in public transit

  • Applications using automated data to enhance strategic or service planning, performance measurement, fare policy, market research, and equity

  • Applications using automated data to assist in operations control, incident management, and service restoration

  • Use of automated data to understand demand, customer behavior, normal patterns of travel, and response to service disruptions

  • Methodological challenges in using automated data

  • New technologies and approaches for data collection

  • Visualization tools

  • Organizational challenges related to data management and governance

  • Transit automated data specifications and their use (e.g., GTFS, TIDES, TODS)

  • Other emerging topics

SUBMISSIONS

  • Abstracts are submitted through the EasyChair platform

  • Submitters need to register (for free) with EasyChair

  • Abstracts should be a maximum of 1,000 words using the webform (no PDFs)

  • Please specify at the top of the Abstract Description whether the author’s preference for presentation is:

    • In-person,

    • virtual,

    • undecided.

  • All accepted presentations will be given using a “lightning speed” format.

  • Please note that no more than 2 presentations will be accepted from the same Presenter.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Deadline for submission: Friday November 21st 2025

  • Decisions on acceptance: Wednesday December 17th, 2025

  • The deadline for reservations in the Block of Dorm Room accommodations is January 31st, 2026 - more information to come
